On 11 March 2025, Mrs. Krongkanit Rakcharoen, Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, met with H.E. Mr. Boštjan Malovrh, Ambassador-designate of Slovenia to Thailand, and Mrs. Phatra Putipanpong, Honorary Consul-General of the Republic of Slovenia to Thailand, to discuss ways to further strengthen bilateral relations between Thailand and Slovenia. This includes enhancing trade and investment ties and exploring opportunities in port logistics, particularly with the Port of Koper. Both sides reaffirmed cooperation in multilateral frameworks, especially within the UN.
The meeting also addressed regional cooperation between Thailand and the European Union (EU), highlighting key areas such as the Thai-EU Free Trade Agreement and Schengen visa exemption for Thai ordinary passport holders. Both sides acknowledged the growing geopolitical importance of the Indo-Pacific region and the necessity of strengthening ASEAN-EU ties to address shared global challenges. Slovenia will host the Bled Strategic Forum 2025 in September this year and will invite Thai representatives to attend the meeting.
