On 11 March 2025, Mr. Narut Soontarodom, Consul General of Thailand in Siem Reap, together with the Deputy Consul General, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Sok Lou, Governor of Battambang Province, on the occasion of assuming his duties.

Both sides discussed the close ties between Battambang Province and Thailand’s border provinces—Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi, and Trat—as well as Battambang’s economic potential, with a population of over 1 million, making it one of Cambodia’s major markets. It was also noted that the province has no presence of online gambling or fraudulent online activities.

The Governor of Battambang expressed his readiness to cooperate with the Royal Thai Consulate-General in promoting collaboration in security, economic affairs, border trade, suppression of transnational crime and narcotics, as well as fostering closer people-to-people relations and ensuring the protection and well-being of Thai nationals and businesses in Battambang Province.
