Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosts seminar on “Courage and Conviction in Public Service: Lessons from Anand’s Life”

On 9 June 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated as a panelist in a seminar on “Courage and Conviction in Public Service: Lessons from Anand’s Life,” hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to reflect on the biography “The Fearless Anand: A Life of Courage, Character and Conviction,” the English translation of the Thai language biography “Nak Su Anand” Kla Kid, Kla Tham, Kla Siang, authored by Mr. Vitthya Vejjajiva, former Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs.

The aim of the event was to disseminate the ideas, guiding principles, and invaluable experience in the life and public service of H.E. Mr. Anand Panyarachun, former Prime Minister and former Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs. Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, delivered the welcoming remarks. The seminar’s panelists comprised: (1) H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow; (2) H.E. Mr. Anand Panyarachun; (3) Mr. Vitthya Vejjajiva; and (4) Ms. Nanda Krairiksh, former high-ranking official of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP). The session was moderated by Mr. Pana Janviroj, Executive Director of the Institute for Strategic Policy (ISP) and advisor of the Minister of Foreign Affairs on corporate communications.

The event also featured a special exhibition tracing the defining moments and milestones in H.E. Mr. Anand Panyarachun’s life and career, including his work in diplomacy, public leadership, and engagement on the international stage. The activity served as a source of inspiration for civil servants and younger generations to uphold integrity, morality and social responsibility. The event promoted Thailand as a country whose leaders are committed to good governance, and who conduct foreign policy in a constructive manner with a significant, memorable and recognized role on the international stage. In attendance were over 300 attendees including the Ministry’s officials, the diplomatic corps, academia, and members of the media.
