On 25 February 2025, H.E. Mr. Chutintorn Gongsakdi, Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, welcomed the Delegation for Relations with the Countries of Southeast Asia and ASEAN (DASE) of the European Parliament led by Mr. Wouter Beke, Chair of the DASE, H.E. Mr. David Daly, Ambassador of the European Union to Thailand and 7 members of the European Parliament (MEPs).  This meeting is part of the MEPs’ official visit to Thailand to attend the 13th Thailand-EU Inter-Parliamentary Meeting (Thailand-EU IPM) in Bangkok.

On this occasion, both sides agreed that Thai-EU relations have gained significant momentum and expressed their readiness to expedite the Thai-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations and to strenghthen their cooperation on green and digital transitions.  They also discussed Thailand’s accession to the OECD, its partnership with BRICS and the visa exemption to Schengen areas for Thai Ordinary passport holders. The DASE delegation took note with appreciation Thailand's role in providing humanitarian assistance to Myanmar and Ukraine and reiterated their support for Thailand’s active role in the region.

The Delegation plans to meet with Thailand Trade Representative, Governor of Bangkok, and representatives from government and private sectors, civil society, and political parties in Bangkok and Chiang Mai during this visit.
