On 7 November 2022, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand presided over the Opening Ceremony of the Thai - Saudi Investment Forum at the Royal Sheraton Hotel with the co-chairing of H.E. Mr. Khalid Abdulaziz Al-Falih, Minister of Investment of Saudi Arabia. The forum was co-organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ofThailand, the Eastern Economic Corridor Office of Thailand (EEC), and the Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking (JSCCIB).

The Thai – Saudi Investment Forum was held for the first time in Thailand as Thailand and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia continue their joint efforts to further enhance economic cooperation. The event highlights the joint endeavour by the government and private sectors of both countries to create business opportunities and allow both sides to synergise investment strategies that are in line with the complementariness between Thailand 4.0 National Economic Scheme and BCG Economic Model and the Saudi Arabia Vision 2030.

In his opening remarks, DPM/FM Don reiterated his deep appreciation for the vision and aspiration of the leaders of the two countries in enhancing renewed relations. He also emphasized the role of the private sector to develop a smart business model that decreases inequalities and embraced diversity to implement the joint roadmap between the two kingdoms in a sustainable manner for the benefits of the people of two countries.

The Thai - Saudi Investment Forum is a significant platform to present investment strategies, trade promotion, and various benefits to drive joint investment between the two kingdoms, and was attended by more than 300 Thai and Saudi business people who held more than 500 business matchings.

DPM/FM Don also witnessed the exchange ceremony of 8 MoUs between the public and private sectors in the business fields of processed food, construction, and food and beverage. This event, thus, is a joint effort between the public and private sectors to further enhance investment and business opportunities between Thai and Saudi sides.

During the visit, the Minister of Investment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia also took the opportunity to visit Thoburi Automotive Assembly plant to view the capabilities of the Electrical Vehicle (EV) and EV battery production of Thailand. The Minister of Investment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia also visited the Thailand Sciences Park (TSP) under the supervision of the National Sci\ence and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), which made presentations on Thailand’s technological advancement in the areas of energy and environment, medicine and public health, and agriculture and food.
