Foreign Ministry’s officials visited Sattahip Naval Base to discuss maritime security cooperation

On 1 September 2023, Mr. Chairat Sirivat, Ambassador attached to the Ministry, led a delegation of representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand to visit the Sattahip Naval Base in Chonburi Privince. The delegation was received and briefed by Rear Admiral Pongsak Somboon, Commander of the Submarine Squadron, Royal Thai Fleet of the Royal Thai Navy, during which both sides exchanged views on today’s maritime security challenges and possible areas of international cooperation in maritime domain.

On the same occasion, the delegation visited the HTMS Chang, the latest multi-purpose amphibious ship of the Royal Thai Navy, which has been in active service since April 2023 to counter maritime security threat. The HTMS Chang will continued to be have an important role in supporting humanitarian operations, such as disaster relief, and search and rescue operations at sea.
