Highlights of the Official Visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs to the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam

On 24 February 2025, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Pham Minh Chinh, Prime Minister of Viet Nam and held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Bui Thanh Son, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam, to discuss ways to promote Thailand and Viet Nam relations. Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, supply chain collaboration and connectivity, tourism and infrastructure through the “Six Countries, One Destination” (6C1D) initiative, and upgrade Thailand-Viet Nam relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Both sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest and discussed preparations for the official visit of the Thai Prime Minister to Viet Nam alongside the 4th Joint Cabinet Retreat (JCR) and preparations for activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Thailand and Viet Nam diplomatic relations next year.

Additionally, the Foreign Minister together with HE. Ms. Urawadee Sriphiromya, Ambassador of Thailand to Viet Nam led the delegation to meet with the Chairman and business representatives of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam (ThaiCham) to explore ways to further promote Thai businesses in Viet Nam under the proactive economic diplomacy policy of the Prime Minister and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Foreign Minister also emphasized the importance of business sector in connecting Thailand - Viet Nam economies and supply chains in order to grow together.
