During 22 - 23 August 2023, H.E. Mr. Sarun Charoensuwan, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand, visited Malaysia with an aim to follow up on the visit to Thailand of H.E. Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia during 9-10 February 2023, and foster bilateral cooperation in all dimensions for the benefits of the peoples of both countries.
On 23 August 2023, the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand had a fruitful meeting with Dato' Sri Amran bin Mohamed Zin, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia. Both sides discussed the upcoming high-level discussions and visits, fostering bilateral mechanisms, multi-dimensional connectivity, promotion of trade and investment, digital and BCG economy, border area development, as well as social, technical and educational cooperation. They also exchanged views on regional and international geopolitical development of mutual interest, in particular on strengthening the ASEAN community.
During the visit, the Permanent Secretary met and exchanged views on regional and international security issues of mutual interest as well as possible cooperation with Raja Dato’ Nushirwan bin Zainal Abidin, Director-General of the National Security Council of Malaysia.
The Permanent Secretary also took this opportunity to meet with Thai private sector in Malaysia and discussed the issues of Thai investment in Malaysia, including challenges faced by Thai investors.
In addition, the Permanent Secretary met with Team Thailand at the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur to discuss key cooperation with Malaysia in various dimensions.
