Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs discussed with H.E. Mr. Christian Rehren Bargetto, Ambassador of Chile to Thailand, focusing on the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2022 and cooperation on the post COVID-19 recovery especially on trade and investment, alternative energy, startup and sustainable development.

On 25 June 2021, H.E. Mr. Christian Rehren Bargetto, Ambassador of the Republic of Chile to the Kingdom of Thailand, paid a farewell call on Mr. Thani Thongphakdi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs. The Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs expressed his appreciation to the Ambassador for proactively strengthening Thai - Chilean relations for the past 4 years of his terms of duty. Both sides also discussed on enhancing and expanding the cooperation in multi-faceted areas, particularly on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand in 2022 which the Thai side is ready to host the 6th Political Consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of both countries as part of the commemoration.

In addition, both sides agreed to strengthen and intensify their cooperation on trade and investment for sustainable economic recovery in the post COVID-19 era which responds to Thailand’s BCG economic development model. They also reiterated their determination to further promote technical cooperation, as well as multilateral cooperation under the framework of ASEAN, APEC and Pacific Alliance, for the mutual benefit of the two countries.
