On 1 March 2024, H.E. Mr. Han Zhiqiang, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Thailand paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, to congratulate the latter on the assumption of her duty.

During the discussion, both sides welcomed that the bilateral Agreement on Mutual Visa Exemption for Holders of Ordinary Passports and Passports for Public Affairs had just entered into force on the same day of their meeting, which was expected to help facilitate people-to-people exchanges and enhance closer relations in all aspects, particularly in boosting the tourism industry of both countries. Both sides also took this opportunity to follow up the outcomes of the recent high-level visits, including Prime Minister’s official visit to China in October 2023 and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s official visit to Thailand in January 2024. These included agricultural trade, connectivity projects, as well as the preparation for activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China in 2025.
