On 4 March 2022, H.E. Mr. Remco Johannes van Wijngarrden, Ambassador of the Netherlands to Thailand paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Thani Thongphakdi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand, on the occasion of Ambassador’s assumption of duty.

Both sides welcomed the close and cordial relationship between the two countries, which spans more than 400 years, and also discussed ways to promote bilateral cooperation in various areas such as trade and investment, environment, energy, agriculture and water resource management, including the tackling of climate change. In addition, both sides also exchanged views on the current regional situation.

Both sides agreed to further intensify bilateral cooperation through the 2nd Thailand - the Netherlands Political Consultations to be held in the Hague later this year, pending the COVID-19 situation worldwide, to help steer all areas of collaboration towards concrete outcomes.
