On 29 April 2026, Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, had a discussion with H.E. Mr. Hunt VanderToll, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Southeast Asia and ASEAN Affairs, Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs, U.S. Department of State, on the occasion of the latter’s visit to Thailand.
 
The U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State informed the Permanent Secretary that the purpose of his visit was to promote the Thai - U.S. alliance and partnership following the formation of the new Thai government. The Permanent Secretary reaffirmed the Thai side's readiness to work together to increase high-level engagements and deepen the Thai - U.S. alliance. In addition, both sides discussed enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest, particularly in defense, security, trade negotiation, and economic partnership. They also reiterated their commitment to elevate cooperation in combating online scams in Southeast Asia, which have caused great loss and affected the safety of both Thais and Americans.
 
Both sides exchanged views on the latest developments on the situation in the region, including the Thailand - Cambodia border, Myanmar and the Middle East.
