On 20 August 2025, Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, had a discussion with H.E. Mr. U Zaw Zaw Soe, Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, on the occasion of the latter’s assumption of duty.
Both sides reaffirmed the importance of cordial relations and bilateral cooperation between Thailand and Myanmar in areas of mutual interest, including the economic, trade and investment dimensions as well as combating transnational crime, and environmental cooperation, including on air pollution and transboundary water quality.
The Ambassador expressed appreciation for the Thai side’s facilitation of a recent diplomatic corps’ visit to the Thai - Cambodian border area and conveyed his hope that tensions between the two countries would be peacefully resolved in due course.
