On 25 June 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, at the Presidential Residence.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitments to promoting and elevating bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries in all aspects, discussed opportunities to further strengthen bilateral relations, particularly in the economic cooperation. This includes enhancing trade value, expanding investment, and Thailand’s readiness to commence negotiations for Thailand–Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) Free Trade Agreement, which would help promote trade, with Thailand serving as a gateway to ASEAN and Kazakhstan as a gateway to Central Asia. The discussion also covered leveraging logistics opportunities along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR). Thailand also led a delegation of private sector representatives to meet with more than 80 Kazakh companies for business meeting and matching.

In addition, they exchanged views on multilateral cooperation, as both countries place importance on adherence to international rules and law. They also discussed cooperation within various frameworks, including CICA, ASEAN, and ACD, as well as opportunities to enhance development cooperation in areas where each country has strong potential. Besides, there will be activities to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2027.
