Mr. Paisan Rupanichkij, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, led the Thai delegation to Kuwait from 4 – 5 September 2024 to discuss ways and means to promote further cooperation in the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) under Thailand’s ACD Chairmanship in 2025.

During the two-day visit, the Thai delegation met with 1) H.E. Mr. Nasser Radan Thamer Al-Mutairi, the new Secretary General of the ACD, and 2) H.E. Mr. Sameeh Essa Johar Hayat, Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait. The Secretary General of the ACD and the Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs congratulated Thailand for taking up the role of the ACD Chairmanship in 2025 and extended their full support to Thailand. During the two meetings, they also discussed about future directions of the ACD and explored innovative and collaborative ideas to further enhance cooperation in the ACD.

The ACD, inaugurated in 2002 by Thailand, currently consists of 35 Member States and is a pan-Asia cooperation and policy dialogue forum aimed at promoting understanding, mutual trust, and mutual interest among Asian countries, as well as finding common solutions to global challenges.
