On 24 April 2024, H.E. Mr. Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, hosted a working lunch for H.E. Mr. Saleumxay Kommasith, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR, during the latter’s working visit to Thailand between 22 – 25 April 2024. Deputy Foreign Minister Jakkapong Sangmanee and high-level officials from Foreign Ministries of Thailand and Lao PDR also attended.

Both sides discussed the progress of outcome implementation of their Leaders’ discussions, especially in areas of transportation connectivity, tourism and cooperation to tackle the problem of transboundary haze.

In addition, they also shared the view that ASEAN needs to step up its engagement in light of ongoing developments in Myanmar so as to maintain centrality in safeguarding peace and stability in the region. Lao PDR as ASEAN Chair will consult closely with all ASEAN member states on the next steps.
