On 21 November 2024, H.E. Mr. Russ Jalichandra, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, welcomed and had a discussion with H.E. Mr. Cheng Yonghua, Former Ambassador of China to Japan, South Korea, and Malaysia, and H.E. Mr. Zhang Jiuhuan, Former Ambassador of China to Thailand, Singapore, and Nepal, during their visit to Thailand. Both former Ambassadors are now sitting in the Foreign Policy Advisory Board of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.

On this occasion, both sides reiterated their readiness to cooperate closely on bilateral and multilateral issues, especially on the occasion of 50th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic ties between the two countries next year, as reaffirmed by Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra in her meetings with Chinese leaders. They also welcomed the efforts made to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in the areas such as trade and investment, high-quality development, and science, technology and innovation, as well as future-oriented industry, with the aim of promoting sustainable development and enhancing the well-being of the people of both countries.

In addition, both side exchanged views on current regional and international developments. They also emphasized the importance of the strategic partnership between Thailand and China, which has contributed to maintaining peace and stability, as well as in addressing challenges in the region.
