On 19 December 2023, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, welcomed and discussed with the European Parliament's Committee on International Trade (INTA), led by Mr. Bernd Lange, Committee Chair, on their visit to Thailand to meet with the government sector, lawmakers, the private sector, and civil society as part of support for the ongoing Thai-European Union (EU) Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations.

Both sides agreed that Thailand-EU relations are close and dynamic, and that the timing is opportune to take forward their partnership on issues of mutual interest, such as economic recovery, green growth and the digital transition. In this connection, they reaffirmed their joint support for a high standard, doable, balanced and fair FTA with an emphasis on sustainability in line with the UN SDGs.

VFM also presented domestic and foreign policy priorities of the Thai Government, as well as Thailand’s determination to play an active and constructive role in the international community.
