On 19 June 2023, H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, held a telephone conversation with the Right Honourable Anne-Marie Trevelyan MP, Minister of State for Indo-Pacific of the United Kingdom, upon the request by the United Kingdom side.

Both sides discussed Thailand’s bid to host the Specialized Expo 2028 in Phuket and the upcoming voting during the 172nd General Assembly of the Bureau of International Expositions (BIE) on 21 June 2023 in Paris. They also exchanged views on political developments in both countries, including the general elections in Thailand, as well as regional issues and the situation in Myanmar.

On this occasion, the Thai side took this opportunity to commend the excellent arrangements and hospitality of the United Kingdom during the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla, which was attended by Their Majesties King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana. Thailand also expressed appreciation for the warm welcome received by Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana during her Royal Visit for the purpose of academic collaboration in May 2023.
