Thailand deposited the instrument of withdrawal of Interpretative Declaration to the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment with respect to Article 1 (definiion of torture), Article 4 (criminalisation of torture, attempt to commit torture as well as complicity) and Article 5 (jurisdiction over torture).

The Office of the Legal Affairs of the United Nations has circulated the instrument of withdrawal, which came into effect on 15 September 2023.

Thailand reiterates its commitment to prevent and suppress Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment. The Act on the Prevention and Suppression of Torture and Enforce Disappearance, which came into force on 22 February 2023, will serve as an important tool for Thailand to that effect.
