Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs receives Director-General of the National Security Council of Malaysia

On 3 July 2024, Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, welcomed Raja Dato’ Nushirwan Bin Zaizal Abidin, Director-General of the National Security Council of Malaysia, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, during the latter’s visit to Thailand.

Both sides were pleased with the close relations between Thailand and Malaysia, especially at the leader level, and agreed to fully utilise existing bilateral mechanisms. Both sides will strengthen cooperation on development of Thailand – Malaysia border areas in order to improve livelihoods of the peoples on both sides of the border.

Both sides also exchanged views on regional issues of common interest and agreed that Thailand and Malaysia should closely coordinate in order to strengthen ASEAN, and support ASEAN to play an important role in addressing regional challenges, such as Myanmar and the South China Sea, amidst intensifying competition between major powers.
