Royal Thai Embassy organizes the first ever “Thai Festival in Myanmar”

On 29 August 2024, H.E. Mr. Mongkol Visitstump, Ambassador of Thailand to Myanmar, Mr. Akgavat Thanaprasitpattana, Director of the Office of Thai International Trade Promotion in Yangon, and Mr. Yordying Supasri, Minister Counsellor of the Royal Thai Embassy in Yangon hold a press conference to launch the Thai Festival 2024 in Yangon at the Junction City department store in Yangon. Under the theme of “Discover Thailand’s BEST”, the first-ever Thai Festival in Myanmar will be organised on 27-29 September 2024 at the promotional area, level one, of the Junction City to promote Thailand’s soft power by showcasing Thai products, culture, food, movies and music. The Thai Business Association of Myanmar, Thai-Myanmar Business Council, Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Shwe Taung Group have supported the organisation of the Festival.
 
A total of 53 vendor booths in the Festival will showcase Thai food, health care, cosmetics, clothes, tourism and entertainment products as well as Myanmar beverages and health products. The Thai restaurants and shop in the Junction City will offer special promotion for the attendees, and a pop-up corner of the Thai products will be set up at Marketplace by City Mart during the three days of the Festival.
 
As part of the Festival, a number of stage performances including traditional Thai dances, Muay Thai, Thai cooking demonstration, the Thai fashion show, as well as special activities from Paing Takhon, Hienn Thit, famous Myanmar actors, and live music performance by Kira, Myanmar artist, and the artists from Thailand including LULA, Gun Napat, Palaphol, GMMTV’s Sea-Keen and Aun-Ashi will demonstrate the richness of Thai culture and entertainment. Furthermore, attendees will enjoy the thrill of the competition by 12 Myanmar Finalists of the first-ever Thai singing contest in Myanmar – “T-Pop Star Challenge, Myanmar” – the winner of which will receive 3,500 USD. Last but not least, with support from the Thai film production and television companies, GDH 559 and GMMTV, the Embassy will organise “Thai Film Festival” screening three Thai movies including ‘How to make millions before grandma dies’, ‘Love You to Debt’ and the third movie which will be later announced at the J Cineplex, Junction City, during 27 - 29 September 2024. The movies will be open to public free of charge upon prior registration.
