Consulate-General Hosted Thailand’s National Day Reception on 5 December 2022

In the evening of 5 December 2022, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Shanghai organized a reception on the auspicious occasion of the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand, the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, and Thailand’s Father’s Day 2022 at the Consulate-General, hosted by Ms. Lada Phumas, Consul-General of Thailand in Shanghai. 

The reception was attended by Mr. Fu Jihong, Deputy Director-General of the Foreign Affairs Office of Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, as Guest of Honour, together with executives of government agencies, academic institutions, media and Thai and Chinese business enterprises in the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) as well as Consuls-General in Shanghai and other friends of Thailand.

Consul-General Lada highlighted the significance of this occasion, especially His Majesty late King Bhumibol’s invaluable contributions and legacy to sustainable development of Thailand and the world.  She also stressed the close cooperation between Thailand and the YRD which has formed a crucial basis for the Thailand - China relations going forward, particularly as this year marks the 10th Anniversary of Thailand - China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership.  In addition, Consul-General Lada underscored Thailand’s continued proactive role at the regional and global levels, including the Host of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) this year and the candidature to host the Specialized Expo 2028 in Phuket, while reaffirming Thailand’s readiness to welcome Chinese and foreign friends to the country after Thailand has been fully reopened since 1 October 2022. 

At the reception, there were a Jazz band performing the beautiful royal compositions by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great as well as  Thai traditional performances, including Flying Kinnari Dance and Thai Long Drum Dance, to enliven the night.  Carefully crafted and innovative savoury and sweet Thai canapés were served such as Thai Crispy Golden Cup, Shrimp Tom Yum in Jelly Style, Pad Thai, Massaman Chicken Curry, Sweet Sticky Rice with Longan and Coconut Cream as well as Thai Durian Crepe Cake and Ice Cream.   

The event was a resounding success. All the guests congratulated the host for the exceptional arrangements and reaffirmed their continued support to and cooperation with Thailand. They also enjoyed their memorable experience of exquisite and unique Thai culture and way of living, and renewed their overall appreciation to Thailand.
