Friends of Thailand to Recall Their Memorable First Love in Thailand with the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Shanghai at “THAI@HEART” Festival

           The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Shanghai successfully organized the Thai Festival in Shanghai 2022 under the theme “THAI@HEART” or “泰走心”. Many Chinese friends and friends of Thailand joined the event virtually, with their views and comments have currently reached over a million and a thousand respectively.

          Thai Festival in Shanghai 2022 was arranged via online video streaming for the very first time on 1 July 2022 at 13.00 - 16.00 hrs. in China (12.00 - 15.00 hrs. in Thailand), which marked a special occasion for the 47th year of Thailand - China’s diplomatic relations. 2022 is also special as it is the 10th anniversary of the establishment of comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries, and another year moving towards the 7th year of the Bangkok - Shanghai Friendship City. 

            Ms. Lada Phumas, the Consul-General of Thailand in Shanghai, warmly welcomed all fans and friends of Thailand, reflecting the idea on how to come up with the theme “THAI@HEART” for the 2022 Thai Festival in Shanghai. Consul General Phumas spoke of the Consulate-General’s proactive roles in promoting cordial relations and friendship between Thailand - Shanghai, Thailand - the Yangtze River Delta (YRD), and Thailand - China, particularly on economic and trade, and socio-cultural connectivity. The Thai Festival in Shanghai is just one of many concrete evidence in this endeavor so as to ensure that our Thainess remains in our Chinese friends’ hearts and top of minds, along with Thailand’s reopening to welcome more foreign visitors from 1 July 2022 onwards.

            Mr. Zhou Hanmin, Vice Chairman of Shanghai Municipal Committee of the CPPCC and Chairman of Shanghai Public Diplomacy Association, expressed his deep appreciation for the Consulate-General’s efforts in strengthening closer ties and cooperation between Thailand and China, as said “the Chinese and the Thais are of the same family”. Mr. Zhou also strongly commended the convening of the 2022 Thai Festival in Shanghai at the right timing and looked forward to further coordinating with the Consulate-General on related matters to enhance the exchanges between China and Thailand.

            To capture a few words about the event, friends of Thailand were brought to recall their first love experiences and memories in Thailand by several Thai famous persons and experts through 5 episodes; namely (1) Love at First Bite Thai Cuisine; (2) Thai Fashion... Falling in Love; (3) Muay Thai… Fight for Love; (4) Bangkok… Love Journey; and (5) First Love in Shanghai.

          Lots of love and miss have been sent to Thailand and Thai people at the Thai Festival in Shanghai 2022 “THAI@HEART”. Participants posted their love messages throughout the video streaming event on the Consulate-General’s WeChat and Weibo official account, as well as actively joined Q&A activities.

            The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Shanghai, as a bridge linking Thailand and China, as well as their peoples, organizes the Thai Festival in Shanghai annually to enhance the awareness and popularity of Thailand in Shanghai, the YRD and China.
