On 27 February 2023, Ms. Lada Phumas, Consul-General of Thailand, participated in the 2023 Briefing on Shanghai’s Commerce and Investment at Shangri-La Pudong.  It was organized annually by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce (SCOFCOM).  This year’s event was well attended by Consuls-General, representatives of Consulates-General, foreign trade and economic associations and major foreign enterprises in Shanghai as well as pertinent municipal government agencies.

Mr. Hua Yuan, Vice Mayor of Shanghai, and Mr. Shen Weihua, Vice Chairman of SCOFCOM, addressed the audience on relevant work report in 2022 and priorities in 2023 with the primary focus on Shanghai’s commitment to high-level reform and opening-up, high-quality development and its leading role in realizing socialist modernization.  Measures and policies to promote consumption, innovation, foreign trade, two-way investment and development of key business areas such as Pudong New Area, Lingang Special Area and Hongqiao Central Business District were also elaborated.

Consul-General Lada was invited to speak where she commended Shanghai’s overall progress and strong emphasis on green and low-carbon development, which resonates well with Thailand’s Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy and the adoption of the Bangkok Goals on BCG Economy at the 29th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in November 2022 in Bangkok.  She also reaffirmed Thailand’s support and cooperation with Shanghai in enhancing the mutually beneficial economic partnership.

In this occasion, Consul-General Lada also had an opportunity to greet and congratulate Mr. Hua Yuan for his appointment as Vice Mayor of Shanghai in January 2023.
