On 13 November 2024, Mr. Bancha Yuenyongchongcharoen, Minister/Deputy Chief of Mission of the Royal Thai Embassy, Seoul participated in 2024 International Conference on Veterans Affairs organized by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs of the ROK at Sofitel Ambassador, Seoul with objective to share best practices on national cemetery management and public-private collaboration in development of veteran affairs.
H.E. Ms. Kang Jung-ai, Minister of MPVA and General Detnitit Luangngamkum, Director-General of the War Veterans Organization of Thailand signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation for honoring Korean war veterans and strengthening exchanges between Korean War Veterans Organizations and the descendants of Korean war veterans from both countries.
Thailand was the second country after the United States to support UN Armed Forces during Korean war. A combined 6,326 Thai fought in the war with 136 killed and 1,139 wounded. At present, there are 1,589 Thai veterans still alive.
