On 26 April 2024, H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador-designate of Thailand to the ROK visited the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Seoul Office, and received a briefing on TAT’s tourism promotion activities for the Korean market by Mr. Pattanapong Pongthongcharoen, Director of TAT Seoul. Both sides discussed possible cooperation on activities to further increase awareness of Thailand’s tourism destinations in the ROK, building on last year’s strong increase of Korean tourist arrivals to Thailand of up to 1.6 million - third highest among all foreign arrivals. This year, the Royal Thai Embassy and TAT Seoul will collaborate on a number of upcoming tourism/cultural festivals, such as the Sawasdee Seoul Thai Festival, Seoul Friendship Festival, and the Jangheung Water Festival, with an aim of attracting 1.9 million Korean tourists to Thailand by the end of 2024 - exceeding pre-COVID-19 levels.
