On 24 March 2023, Ambassador Witchu Vejjajiva visited POSCO’s facilities in Pohang City upon an invitation from POSCO Group. The program started with a visit to POSCO Museum, which outlined the company’s long-standing history, followed by a visit to POSCO PR Center, which displayed innovative adaptation of POSCO’s steel products. The highlight was a visit to POSCO Pohang Steelworks — South Korea’s first integrated steelworks which has produced around 230 million tons of steel since its foundation, helping to build South Korea’s cities and infrastructure and driving Korea’s economic growth. Pohang Steelworks’ usage of AI technology to operate its blast furnaces made it the first Korean factory to receive the WEF’s Lighthouse Factory Award in 2019.
