On Saturday 8th June 2024, the Royal Thai Embassy in Prague participated the City Festival of Embassies, organized by the City of Prague 6 in collaboration with many foreign embassies and diplomatic missions. H.E. Suwat Kaewsook, Ambassador of Thailand and Mrs. Patcharin Kaewsook, attended the opening ceremony and visited Thai food stall, and also gave an interview to local Czechia T.V. station, emphasizing the embassy’s role to cooperate with Prague 6 as a member of this community and describing the characteristics of Thai cuisine according to the strategy of Thai Kitchen to the World policy.
During the opening ceremony, Mr. Jakub Stárek, Mayor of Prague 6, made his welcoming remark to public participants, and referred to this Festival by which was initiated by H.E. Narong Sasitorn, former Thai ambassador to the Czech Republic, during his term of duty between 2015-2018. Since then the Festival, with full support from many foreign embassies and diplomatic missions located in Prague 6, has been successfully organized to this day and become the City’s annual event, and gained increasingly public popularity. For this year, there are 55 foreign diplomatic missions attending the event.
In 2024 the Royal Thai Embassy had supported and accommodated Thai entrepreneurs to take part in the Festival, setting up Thai stall to sell many products, especially popular Thai dishes, for example rice served with stir fried pork, basil and fried eggs, saute chicken with cashew nuts, spring rolls, fried chicken. Thai fruits : durian, mango, mangosteen, longan, fresh coconut, and Thai local beer and drinks was also available in the Festival.
The event attracted more than 15,000 visitors this year , entering the Festival without charge.
