On 8 September 2022, H.E. Ms. Vimolbajra Ruksakiati, Ambassador of Thailand to Norway, met with Mid-Norway Chamber of Commerce and industry and Kongsberg Seatex to learn and exchange views on economic cooperation between Thailand and Norway. Kongsberg is very pleased with the current ongoing cooperation with the SDA Group (Thailand) on providing the Maritime Boat Radio (MRB) technology for the Maritime Safety and Surveillance Operation Center of the Marine Department, Ministry of Transport, launched last month. Q-Free, based in Trondheim, is providing technology for the Thai Easy Pass system at the toll collection plazas.

 

As Trondheim is the capital of technology and all businesses strive for sustainable development goals, both sides discussed potential for further cooperation as Norway is an important trading partner and investor for Thailand, especially in areas of Norway’s expertise such as telecommunication, electric vehicles, clean energy, and maritime transport. Ambassador Vimolbajra also informed the Norwegian side about the new Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economic Model, which will lead Thailand towards sustainable development. Norway is invited to support the Thai BCG model in areas of Norway’s expertise such as food and agriculture, medical and wellness, tourism, and creative economy.
