Ambassador of Thailand to Norway attended cultural performances and musical “Ramayana” by Moradokmai Theatre Community

On 3 September 2023, H.E. Ms. Vimolbajra Ruksakiati, Ambassador of Thailand to Norway, Miss Potchamas Saengthien, Counsellor, and the Embassy’s officials attended cultural performances and musical “Ramayana” by a group of young and talented Thai artists called ‘Moradokmai Theatre Community’ (literally means ‘new heritage’), under the guidance of Mr. Janaprakal Chandruang, 2019 Thai National Artist in the field of Performing arts (Film and drama), at Lilleaker school, Oslo. The event was co-organized by the Thai Women’s Association in Norway and the Thai Music and Dance Club in Norway and was supported by the Thai Embassy in Oslo. There were about 60 Thais, Norwegians, and foreigners living in Norway participated in the event.

The Embassy attaches a great importance to public diplomacy, especially to promote a connection between the younger generation of Thais both in Norway and in Thailand. It is through them, that we have faith for the future.

The Embassy is very pleased to welcome Moradokmai Theatre Community back to Norway once again this year. This time they will stay in Norway during 2-13 September 2023. During their stay in Norway, they will be performing at the Thai Fair in Moss 2023 at Wat Moss Santinivas Norway on Saturday, 9 September 2023, and in many cities in Norway, including Sundebru, Larvik, Sanderfjord, Porsgrunn, and Elverum. The Embassy would like to encourage the Thai community to bring their children to join in these events, in order for them to develop and form a good friendship.

The Embassy would like to thank Wat Thai Norway for providing accommodation for the Moradokmai group during their stay in Norway. We would also like to thank the Thai Women’s Association in Norway and Thai Music and Dance Club in Norway for arranging today’s event as well as other Thai Associations and Thai community in many cities who have warmly welcomed Moradokmai.

The Embassy hopes that this visit to Norway by Moradokmai Theatre Community will be a valuable learning experiences for both the young artists of Moradokmai, the Thai community in Norway as well as our Norwegian friends.
