On 13 August 2022, the Royal Thai Embassy in Oslo together with Wat Thai Norway, Thai Associations in Norway, and Thai community in Norway organized cultural activities to commemorate the auspicious occasion of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother’s 90th Birthday Anniversary on 12 August 2022 at Wat Thai Norway. H.E. Ms. Vimolbajra Ruksakiati, Ambassador of Thailand to Norway, presided over the event, which were well attended by Embassy’s officials and staffs and over 80 members of Thai community and their Norwegian families.
Ambassador Vimolbajra attended the opening ceremony of the Thai silk exhibition organized jointly by 4 Thai Associations including Thai-Norway Language and Cultural Association and Thailand NIE Learning Centre, Østfold, Thai Women Association in Norway, Thai Buddhist Association in Norway and Language and Cultural Centre, Wat Thai Norway, along with the Thai community in Norway. The exhibition featured many pieces of exquisite and outstanding quality Thai silk which have been inherited and passed through generations. The activities also included impressive cultural performances of children from the Thai-Norway Language and Cultural Association and the Language and Cultural Centre, Wat Thai Norway which were very much appreciated by the Thai community and their Norwegian families. As 12 August is Mother’s Day in Thailand, another important activity was for the children to pay respect to express love and gratitude to their mothers. The Thai Music and Dance Club in Norway also performed traditional songs throughout the event.
