The Royal Thai Embassy in Oslo organized ‘Amazing Thai Fine Dining in Oslo 2022’

On 4 June 2022, the Royal Thai Embassy in Oslo organized ‘Amazing Thai Fine Dining in Oslo 2022’.  In her opening remarks, H.E. Ms. Vimolbajra Ruksakiati, Ambassador of Thailand to Norway, said that the purpose of this event is to promote Thai food in Norway and to show how to integrate Norwegian social norm and lifestyle, especially in using local ingredients such as salmon, king crab and shrimp, with Thai food. 

The event was well attended by some 60 guests by the Diplomatic corps in Norway, including Ambassadors of Myanmar, Japan, South Korea, India, Canada, Italy, Morocco, Mexico, Argentina, Egypt, Tunisia and Gana, representatives from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, former Thai Honorary Consul in Oslo, members of Museum of Cultural History, University of Oslo, Buddhist Federation of Norway and Chef Terje Ommundsen of Plah Restaurant. Thai community in Norway also joined the event including Thai-Norwegian Language and Culture Association, Thai Women’s Association in Norway, Wat Thai Norway’s Thai Language and Culture Centre, Thai Massage Association in Norway, and Thai student in Norway group.

The theme was “Journey of Thai Taste in Norway”.  Chef Nuk or Chef Chanyuth Chitprakorb from Kidchen Thai Bergen presented “Pla Haeng Taen Mo” as an appetizer using Norwegian salmon and another three menus, “Rae Rai King Crab” “Saeng wa goong” and “Gang Kiew Wan Nuea” from the concept “the way of life along the water stream”, where both Thailand and Norway share similar way of living along the river.  Chef Nuk used sun-dried gourami fish and Norwegian smoked salmon in the appetizer, King crab from the North of Norway in “Rae Rai King Crab”, and large shrimp from Norway in “Saeng wa goong”.  He also used rice berry tuile instead of crispy-friend corn tortilla or Taco, very popular menu for Norwegian families to enjoy on Friday.  Then, Chef Tak or Chef Pattaradee Chadaratchananont, Ambassador’s chef, demonstrated “Kanom Look Choup”, a very traditional Thai dessert.
