On 3 June 2023, Ms. Potchamas Saengthien, Counsellor, attended Stoppested Verden, the annual International Cultural Festival for Children and Youth in Hamar. The Festival is aimed to use art as a tool to promote unity among multicultural communities by creating venue for artists and performers to present their works.
As a gesture of support and goodwill from the Thai Embassy in Oslo, Counsellor Potchamas, gave Thai children’s books in English and in Thai and stationery, and Buddhist chanting books to the representatives of Thai Association in Hedmark.
Stoppested Verden was held from 3 to 4 June 2023 at the Festival ground next to the Norwegian Railway Museum in Hamar. The Thai Association in Hedmark showcased Thai culture and food tents at the event including fruits and vegetables carving, Thai drawing coloring, and Thai cultural performance, jointly presented by the Thai Traditional Music and Dance Club in Norway. Apart from Thailand, other countries also took part in the event including the Philippines, Japan, India, Sri Lanka, Syria, Lebanon, Kazakhstan, Norway, France, the Netherland, Spain, Ukraine, Albania, the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Egypt, Kenya and Africa. There were thousands of visitors participating in this two-day event.
Stoppested Verden is very popular among the residents of Hamar and nearby cities. The entrance is free of charge. At its peak, over 11,000 visitors participated in the event. For more information, please check out the Festival’s website: https://www.stoppestedverden.no/.
