On 15 May 2022, H.E. Ms. Vimolbajra Ruksakiati, Ambassador of Thailand to Norway, and her family, together with Embassy’s officials visited Skiptvet Buddhist Monastery or Lokuttara Vihara located in Skiptvet, Viken county, South of Oslo.  At the Monastery, the Ambassador paid respect and gave alms to Ajahn Kalyano, the Abbot of the Monastery and the monks on the occasion of the Vesak Day, which is celebrated every year on the full moon day of the 6th lunar month, which falls on the 16th of May this year.

The Vesak day is among the most important days for Buddhism since it commemorates three important events, which happened on the same day, namely the birth, the attainment of enlightenment, and the passing away of the Lord Buddha.  The Dhamma teaching related to the Vesak day is the four noble truths, which are the suffering, the origin of the suffering, the cessation of the suffering, and the path to cessation of the suffering.  In this connection, on 15 December 1999, the UN General Assembly adopted its resolution to recognize internationally the Day of Vesak and has planned for celebration on that same day every year.

May you be blessed with the Noble Triple Gem.
