On 11 January 2023, H.E. Ms. Vimolbajra Ruksakiati, Ambassador of Thailand to Norway, invited H.E. Ms. Heidi Karlsen, Director General of the Department of Media and Arts and H.E. Ms. Elisabeth Lier Haugseth, Director General of the Department for Equality, Non-discrimination and International Affairs, Royal Norwegian Ministry of Culture and Equality to the Embassy to discuss and exchange views on the NRK’s TV programme “Brennpunkt”, an episode broadcasted on 7 December 2022, which allegedly uncovered sex industry and prostitution in some Thai massage parlors in Norway. Mr. Monsak Jangariyawong, Minister Counsellor, Ms. Bheraya Homkosol, Counsellor, and Mr. Petter Dotterud Anthun, Advisor, Department for Equality, Non-discrimination and International Affairs also participated in the meeting.

 

Both sides constructively discussed and exchanged views on the comprehensive and long-term cooperative approach to prevent and address this social problem in Norway relating to Thai community in Norway, including ways and means to the elevation of the standard of Thai massage parlors in Norway, address the social discrimination in Norway and prevention of anti-human trafficking.
