Consul General of Thailand in New York attended the 30th Anniversary Celebration of Wat Buddha Thai Thavornvanaram, New York

On July 10, 2024, Miss Somjai Taphaopong, Consul General of Thailand in New York, presided over the Buddhist merit-making and chanting ceremony on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Wat Buddha Thai Thavornvanaram in New York. The ceremony was graciously attended by 30 Buddhist monks and approximately 200 Thais. During the event, the Consul General offered alms to the monks and delivered her congratulatory messages on this auspicious occasion.

Wat Buddha Thai Thavornvanaram is located near “Little Thailand Way”, also known as the ‘Thai Town’, in Queens, New York, where many Thais reside. The temple serves as a center for Buddhist dissemination, upholding the faith and spirit of the Thai community in New York,promoting Thai culture and traditions, as well as cultivating cordial relations with local people and governmental agencies. Furthermore, the temple has continuously supported the consular missions of the Royal Thai Consulate General in New York, assisting Thais and strengthening the Thai community in the vicinity, forging a powerful bridge to foster people to people friendships between Thailand and the U.S.
