On June 9, 2024, Ms. Somjai Taphaopong Consul General in New York presided over the certificate award ceremony for students of the Thai Cultural Center of New York for the academic year 2024.

The ceremony honored 30 students, comprising both Thai youth and individuals of other nationalities residing in New York and nearby states. Both teachers and students also provided beautiful performances during the ceremony.

The Thai Cultural Center of New York was founded 38 years ago by Ms. Sujittra Paleewong, who currently serves as its president. Under her leadership, the Center has a dedicated team of 10 teachers and staff members. Each year, from October to June, the Center offers courses designed to promote the Thai language and cultural traditions among Thai youth born and raised in the United States, particularly in New York and New Jersey.

The Royal Thai Consulate-General acknowledges the importance of the Center’s mission and expresses admiration for its continuous efforts. The Center plays a vital role in strengthening the Thai community abroad with the Consulate-General having been a long-time supporter. In 2024, the Consulate-General partnered with the Center and various associations and clubs in New York and Massachusetts to successfully host the first-ever Thailand Day event on April 7, 2024.
