The Royal Thai Embassy, New Delhi, organised the 4th Namaste Thailand Festival 2023 at Select CITYWALK during 24 - 26 March 2023 after a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It aims to showcase Thailand to Indians and foreigners residing in India through Thailand’s various elements of Thainess such as food, culture, tourism and products. The Festival was inaugurated by H.E. Ms. Pattarat Hongtong, Ambassador of Thailand to India, along with Team Thailand, diplomatic communities, Friends of Thailand, Thai and Indian private sectors and media.
The Namaste Thailand Festival 2023 showcased the excellence and potentials of Thailand in 4 areas of activities. (1) There are fifteen stalls from Thai entrepreneurs selling various kinds of products from Thailand such as clothing lines, accessories, jewelry, kitchenware, ceramics, process food and fruit. (2) Seven renowned restaurants in Delhi and nearby areas were present to serve famous and authentic Thai cuisine. (3) Various cultural stage performances including Muay Thai demonstration was performed by the United Muay Thai Association - India (UMAI) for those who were interested in Thailand’s martial arts, cooking demonstrations by Ambassador on the famous Som Tum (Thai papaya salad) and Kaeng Kiew Wan (Green curry with chicken), cooking competition in which participants tried their hand at making Som Tam with a close suggestion by the team from the International Institute of Culinary Arts (IICA) and Namaste Thailand Flash Quizzes by the Embassy to challenge audiences’ knowledge about Thailand. (4) Mini Concert by Ma Kao Hang Band from Kalasin province in the Northeast of Thailand to showcase Thai-traditional and classical music which was the highlight of the Festival as their uniqueness and musical talents created a fun and upbeat atmosphere that got the Indian crowd to join until in the end of the evening, making the memorable evening for everyone. Furthermore, the Embassy also arranged the workshops on fruit carving and cooking for interested visitors.
During the three-day festival, there were over 30,000 visitors attended. Apart from the Tourism Authority of Thailand as a major partner in hosting the Namaste Thailand Festival 2023, the Royal Thai Embassy also received support from various companies who helped make this festival possible to present Thailand in all potentials areas to the Indian public, i.e. Thai Airways International, SCG International India, Global Power Synergy Company, Aditya Birla Group, VFS Global, and BLS International.
