On 23 September 2023, the ASEAN Committee in Lima (ACL), compromising of the embassies of Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand, jointly organized the celebration of the 56^th anniversary of the founding of ASEAN during the 1^st International Fair of Culture, Tourism and Education (FICTE) at the Alfredo Salazar Park, Miraflores, Lima, Peru.

Approximately 70 people attended the event, including diplomatic corps and senior officials from Peruvian public, private and academic sectors, as well as the Peruvian and foreign public. The event successfully promoted new ties with Peruvian public and private sectors as well as awareness of ASEAN in Peru.

Activities within ASEAN Day included 1) a speech by H.E. Mr. Ricky Suhandar, Indonesian Ambassador to Peru as the current President of ACL, who gave an overview of the history, background and important developments of ASEAN in 2022, and opportunities for strengthening relations between ASEAN and Peru, after Peru became a signatory of ASEAN’s TAC in July 2019, 2) video providing an overview of ASEAN, and 3) cultural performances from ASEAN embassies, in which the Thai side presented the Fon Sao Mai dance, Serng Kratib dance, and Muay Thai performance.
