On 4 July 2024, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia attended the 3rd Thailand-Malaysia Joint Trade Committee (JTC) Meeting co-chaired by H.E. Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce of Thailand and YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry of Malaysia and a bilateral meeting between both sides’ Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce and Malaysia’s MITI Minister at Grand Hyatt Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
Both sides agreed to further enhance trade and investment cooperation and discussed ways towards the achievement of the 30 billion USD bilateral trade target by 2027. These include, the Working Group on Trade, Border Trade and Investment, the promotion of cross border economic connectivity, the facilitation of agriculture and food products exported from Thailand to Malaysia. Both sides also expressed readiness to forge new areas of cooperation, including in automotive industry, entrepreneurship and franchise, digital economy, among others.
On this occasion, on 3 July 2024, the Ambassador welcomed Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce and the Delegation at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and hosted lunch at Malai Thai Cuisine, a Thai SELECT certified Thai restaurant in Kuala Lumpur with Michelin Guide 2024.
