On 14 May 2024, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia paid a courtesy call on The Right Honorable Tun Tengku Maimun binti Tuan Mat, Chief Justice of Malaysia at the Palace of Justice, Putrajaya.
 
Ambassador Lada and The Right Honorable exchanged information on cooperation in criminal matters between Thailand and Malaysia, and emphasized the importance of enhanced legal and judicial cooperation between the Royal Thai Embassy and the Malaysia Judiciary, as well as the crucial roles played by the respective courts in promoting legal developments and judicial systems in ASEAN and the Asia-Pacific.
 
Both sides also engaged in a constructive exchange of views on Malaysia’s progressive legal reforms that would further propel social justice, and promote human rights for the peoples of the two countries, notably the abolition of the mandatory death penalty, alternatives to the death penalty, and the granting of Malaysian citizenship to children born overseas to Malaysian mothers and their non-Malaysian spouses.
 
Besides, on 4 May 2024, Ambassador Lada also had the opportunity to meet The Right Honorable, who was the special guest at the 8th Anniversary celebration of the Inns of Court Malaysia (ICM) at the St. Regis Hotel, along with YAB Dato’Sri Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusof, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, and YB Hannah Yeoh, Minister of Youth and Sports of Malaysia. On this occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia reiterated the importance of national unity based on respect for diversity and promotion of equality amidst Malaysia’s multicultural society, the factors which are essential in building the country’s unity.
