Ambassador Chaired the 267th EXCO Meeting of ALC Kuala Lumpur

On 23 April 2024, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, as ALC President for the term 2024 - 2025 and Patron ALC Thailand, chaired the 267th Executive Committee Meeting of ASEAN Ladies’ Circle Kuala Lumpur (EXCO Meeting of ALC Kuala Lumpur) at the Royal Thai Embassy, with ALC Patrons, including Datin Soraya Dato Hamid (Burnei), Datin Kiki Hermono (Indonesia), Madam Khin Myo Thwe (Myanmar), H.E. Ms. Maria Angela A. Ponce (Philippines), Datin Indera Jayanthi Menon (Singapore), Madam Do Thi Huong Lan (Vietnam), and ALC Alternate Patron, including, Madam Siti Nur Khadizah binti Haji Mostapa, Deputy Secretary General (Management Services) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia and Ms. Chakriya Phallin (Cambodia), as well as ALC members, in attendance.
 
The Ambassador welcomed the participants to the 267th EXCO Meeting, which was the first EXCO meeting under her Presidentship, and expressed her appreciation for the presence of the Patrons, Alternate Patrons, Country Representatives, and Members of ALC, which reflected a joint pleasure of all the participants. The Ambassador updated the meeting on the progress made in the process of taking up her role as the President in accordance with Malaysian related rules and regulations, as well as proposing ALC Thailand’s draft work plan with indicative list of activities 2024 – 2025, which comprised a diverse range of initiatives designed to foster engagement, cultural exchange, and collaboration among members. The Ambassador also expressed her hope that the proposed plan of activities would significantly contribute to Malaysia’s upcoming ASEAN Chairman of Malaysia in 2025.
 
Following an extensively discussion and exchange of views on the proposed work plan, the participants expressed their supports and readiness to take part in the activities to promote ASEAN visibility and unity in Malaysia. In addition, the meeting agreed to establish a Sub-committee to study and advise on the amendment of ALC rules and constitution to be consistent with the current development and situation. The meeting also discussed the possibility of collaboration with other charity associations in Malaysia, as well as possible channels to promote ALC activities to enhance awareness among wider public.
 
The meeting was held in a warm and constructive atmosphere, followed by a group photo session. The Ambassador will host the 268th EXCO Meeting in June/July 2024 to follow up on the implementation of the work plan.
