On 9 May 2023, Ambassador Thippawan Supamitkitja, together with Dr. El Hadji Magatte SECK, Director of the hospital, presided over the Medical Tools and Equipment Handover Ceremony. Ms. Papada Pakdethanakul, Second Secretary, staff from the Royal Thai Embassy in Dakar, medical personnel and hospital staff also attended. The medical equipment worth 7.75 million CFA francs (approximately 440,000 baht) was donated to the Lieutenant Colonel Mamadou Diouf Regional Hospital Center in the city of Saint-Louis, the regional hospital in Saint-Louis Region, by the Royal Thai Embassy in Dakar.

Director SECK expressed his sincere gratitude to the Government of Thailand for providing medical equipment to Saint-Louis Regional Hospital, which will greatly help enhance the hospital's capacity to provide healthcare service to the Senegalese people, including people in Saint-Louis and nearby cities in northern Senegal, as well as people from Southern Mauritania, the neighboring country of Senegal.

On this occasion, Ambassador Thippawan emphasized that the Royal Thai Embassy in Dakar attaches importance to improving healthcare services in Senegal, particularly decentralizing healthcare services to the major cities of each region of Senegal to reduce overcrowding of patients seeking treatment in Dakar while reducing patients’ travel expenses. This will significantly contribute to an equal access to health care for all, and promote Thailand as a role model of an advocate for Universal Health Coverage (UHC) policies, as well as the policy of leaving no one behind.
