Thailand in Motion: A Journey to Thai Performing Arts event at the University of Chicago

On June 13th, 2024, the Royal Thai Consulate-General, Chicago, in collaboration with the International House, University of Chicago, organized the Thailand in Motion: A Journey to Thai Performing Arts event at the University of Chicago. The event aimed to strengthen academic cooperation with the University and promote Thailand.
 
The event featured a pre-concert lecture introducing Lanna’s history and culture by Taylor Easum, Ph.D. from Indiana State University, followed by a roundtable discussion about the diversity of Thai music and performances, featured insights from Miss Waewdao Sirisook, a performer from Chiang Mai, and Thai music scholars based in Chicago.
 
Later, the reception started with featuring Thai cuisine, Thai dessert demonstrations, and Thai music performances during the reception. Afterward, Dennise M. Jorgens, Ph.D., president of the International House, University of Chicago, delivered welcoming remarks at the assembly hall, followed by the opening remarks from Consul-General Mrs. Katanawadee Kalayanamit, before enjoying various performances from the Thai Cultural and Fine Arts Institute of Chicago (TCFAI) and Miss Waewdao together.
 
The Royal Thai Consulate-General, Chicago, would like to express appreciation to the Thai Cultural and Fine Arts Institute of Chicago (TCFAI), Miss Waewdao, lecturers, Star of Siam restaurant, Thai dessert and fruit carving demonstrators, and all participants for joining the event.
