On 11 September 2023, Consul General Nitirooge Phoneprasert witnessed the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Sirindhorn International Thai-German Graduate School of Engineering (TGGS), King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok, represented by Dr. -Ing. Nisai Fuengwarodsakul, Dean of TGGS, and the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M), represented by Prof. Raghunathan Rengaswamy, Dean of Global Engagements, at IIT-M campus in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

This MoU is an initiative of the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Chennai to promote educational partnership between academic institutions in Thailand and in Tamil Nadu, which is one of the five southern states of India renowned for its high-ranking and prestigious colleges and universities particularly in the areas of science, technology, and engineering. The said MoU will pave the way for further collaboration on academic and research activities including the exchange of students and faculties, the exchange of academic information, scholarly information, and publications, as well as the establishment of joint seminars, workshops and other academic meetings. IIT-M is ranked the best Overall Category and the top engineering institute in India by the Ministry of Education’s National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF)
