On 12 December 2024, the Royal Thai Embassy in Budapest hosted a reception to commemorate the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand, the birthday anniversary of His Majesty Late King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, and the Thai Father’s Day at the Amadria Park Hotel Capital, Zagreb, Croatia with around 100 guests, including members of the diplomatic corps, representatives from Croatian public and private sectors, Croatian politicians, and members of the Thai community in Croatia.
The opening ceremony commenced with an introduction by Mr. Nopakhun Luichant, Chargé d'Affaires. This was followed by remarks from Ambassador Phrommes Bhaholpolbhayuhasena, highlighting the significance of 5 December to Thailand. He also emphasised the strong bilateral relations between Thailand and Croatia since 1992. This positive relationship was further strengthened during the 79th United Nations General Assembly, where the Foreign Ministers of both countries met on the sidelines and signed an MOU to establish a Political Consultation mechanism. The Ambassador also mentioned future cooperations in potential areas such as tourism, gastronomy, trade, investment, and cooperation with the European Union.
The event featured a range of activities, including a performance of royal compositions, traditional Thai dance, and video presentations promoting Thai tourism. Guests enjoyed authentic Thai cuisine, including Krathong Thong (Thai Savoury Tartlets), Tom Yum Kung and Thai Salad Rolls, prepared by the Thai Residence and the hotel chefs who participated in Thai culinary workshops organised by the Embassy. The reception successfully showcased Thai culture, particularly authentic Thai cuisine, to a wider audience. In addition, the Thai flags prominently adorned the hotel facade, catching the attention of the passersby.
