         On 11 February 2022, Mr. Chatchawan Sakornsin, Ambassador of Thailand to Kazakhstan held a meeting with Mr. Yerlan Kydyrov, Director of Tourism and External Relations of Shymkent City at the Royal Thai Embassy. The representative of Shymkent City expressed the city’s intension  to strengthen tourism cooperation between Thailand and Shymkent, which has been the Sister City with Pattaya City in Chonburi Province of Thailand since 2004. The representatives of Shymkent City also plan to visit Pattaya in the middle of 2022 to have further discussion on mutual activities of the two cities. The Thai Ambassador emphasized the importance of tourism cooperation between Thailand and Kazakhstan, giving an example of the number of Kazakh tourists to Thailand In January 2022, which is among the top 10 of foreign tourists from all over the world. Thailand also has strong “Medical tourism” sector, which can be of interest to Kazakh people as well. He also underlined that the Royal Thai Embassy in Nur-Sultan stands ready to help coordinate and advance cooperation between Shymkent and Pattaya forward into concrete results. The Thai side also considers organizing cultural events in Shymkent to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Kazakhstan.

          The city of Shymkent is located in the south of Kazakhstan, not far from Tashkent, the capital city of Uzbekistan. It is the country's third largest city with beautiful cultural and natural attractions.
