Mr. Asi Mamanee, Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs led the Thai delegation to the Netherlands during 22 - 26 November 2022 to participate in the 2nd Thailand – Netherlands Political Consultations in The Hague, hosted by the Netherlands on 24 November 2022 after two-year absence of such bilateral consultations due to the COVID-19 situation.

The Director-General of the Department of European Affairs and Ms. Karin Mössenlechner, Director, Asia and Oceania Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands co-chaired the Political Consultations. Thai representatives in attendance included, H.E. Mr. Chatri Archjananun, Ambassador of Thailand to the Netherlands, together with relevant officials. The Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Thailand, H.E. Mr. Remco Johannes van Wijngaarden, also travelled to The Hague to attend the meeting, together with relevant officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.

The meeting was held successfully in a constructive atmosphere. Both sides exchanged views and deliberated ways to promote and push forward concrete bilateral cooperation in various areas including economic cooperation, trade and investment, water resources management, environment, clean energy/renewable energy, agriculture industry and technology, tourism and cultural cooperation, as well as to promote the exchange of high level visits including business representatives and trade missions. In addition, both sides exchanged views on multilateral and key international issues such as situation in Myanmar and Ukraine, ASEAN - EU and ASEAN - The Netherlands cooperation and looked forward to the ASEAN – EU Commemorative Summit to be convened in Brussels in December 2022. The Thai side also shared the outcome of APEC 2022 recently concluded in Thailand.

​​During this official visit to the Netherlands, the Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ambassador of Thailand to the Netherlands participated in a study visit at Deltares Delft, the Dutch independent institute of applied research in the field of water and subsurface, and discussed with Mr. Tjitte A. Nauta, Regional Manager Asia / Strategic Advisor Integrated Water Management, further cooperation in water management.
