Prime Minister of Thailand’s Statement on the Occasion of the United Nations Day 2022 The Prime Minister of Thailand delivers a statement on the occasion of the United Nations Day, which falls on 24 October every year. In his statement, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of the United Nations as the pillar of international cooperation in addressing global challenges, especially those resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic such as the economic crisis and food and energy shortages, in addition to climate change. The Prime Minister reaffirms Thailand’s commitment in support of multilateralism, as well as Thailand’s readiness to cooperate with all stakeholders, especially the youth, to design a better future for all. The Prime Minister also highlights Thailand’s bid for a seat at the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) for the term 2025- 2027. The Prime Minister expresses his appreciation that Thailand is host to many United Nations agencies, including United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) which celebrates its 75th anniversary this year.
